About Me

My photo
Hello, let me introduce myself a bit...I am a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a retired labor and delivery room nurse of 38 years. Since retiring, my days have become mostly calm and unstructured. My Fluid Days blog is part of that life, though not updated at this time. My Hadrian's Wall Blog is the journal of our 100 mile walk across England in 2009 and again in 2010. My Dales Way Journal is about another long-distance hike we did in September of 2014. Russ, my husband and best friend for 46 years is my walking companion. He keeps me laughing and makes every day a joy.

Sept. 19 Day 6

Cowgill to Sedbergh 12.5 miles

Looking back at Sportsman's Inn beside the River Dee, as we started out in the morning.

  This little guy was curious

Gates, stiles and steps everywhere.

This fellow didn't pay one bit of attention to me while I took his picture. He was no doubt thinking, "If I ignore her, she'll go away..."

His friends watched from the gate.

I did a detour around these big fellows. (Ladies?)

What are these things? Rats? Gophers? No, I think they're moles. Intended to scare other moles away??

I love the Brit's neat little gardens.

Intermittent clouds, but no rain!

Taking a rest at St. Andrews in Dent
Churchyards are a good place to take a little nap. As I was looking at this picture, I remembered a similar one taken 5 years ago when we were doing Hadrian's Wall hike. Same shirt, and backpack. Sans apple!

Sedbergh, our destination for the day, seen in the distance

 Walking into Sedbergh

This was our B. & B. It was a beautiful 150 year old home that was just lovely. A short walk from downtown Sedbergh, our room was comfortable and the owners friendly and welcoming. Daleslea Bed & Breakfast

We walked down Main Street to the Red Lion Pub for dinner and Russ once again had Steak and Ale Pie for the 4th night in a row! He does like the pub version of our beef pot-pies. Very hearty! The food was good and it was a pleasant place to eat.

Afterward, we explored the quaint little town. Their yearly Sheep Fest was in full swing so there were probably more tourists than usual. Nearly every shop window had a sheep display of some kind or another. They were all numbered and had been judged and awards giving. Some were really funny.
